About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive financial support to enable you to continue your studies if your family suffers a sudden bereavement during the academic year. The amount is determined on a case-by-case basis and is not announced in advance. It is intended to be sufficient to ensure that you do not have to give up your studies. This support is separate from the UFV’s regular means-tested financial aid. The Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV), a private university in Pozuelo de Alarcón near Madrid, will step in if the death of a parent, a guardian or the family’s main breadwinner causes your financial situation to deteriorate drastically.

Eligibility

  • University: You are already enrolled as a student at the UFV.
  • Study phase: You are in your second year of study or above.
  • The trigger: A parent, legal guardian or the family's main earner has died during the current academic year.
  • Financial impact: This loss has clearly worsened your family’s financial situation.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Please contact the UFV’s Student Support Service (Servicio de Ayudas al Estudio) and explain your situation, or apply for support online via the student portal. There is no fixed deadline. You can submit your application at any time during the academic year, as soon as the loss occurs. The service aims to respond quickly so that your studies are not interrupted.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is not a selection process for a fixed number of places. It is a targeted response to a specific, serious event. If you are enrolled at the UFV and can provide evidence of both the death of your family’s main breadwinner during the course of the year and the resulting financial hardship, your case meets the funding criteria exactly. If you contact the Student Financial Aid Service immediately after the situation arises, you will have the best chance of receiving ongoing support.
