University of Murcia Predoctoral Fellowships

You will be offered a paid employment contract for up to 4 years to work on your PhD at the University of Murcia in Spain. This is a genuine employment contract with a salary, not a small supplementary grant. The salary is determined in accordance with Spanish legislation governing academic staff. The University of Murcia funds these posts itself. In the last round of applications, 20 posts were offered.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a higher education qualification that entitles you to enrol on a PhD programme.
• Doctoral place: You are enrolled on an official PhD programme at the University of Murcia or are about to enrol.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Murcia’s research portal. The deadline for applications is 18 October. The university will first check who is eligible for admission. Applicants will then be assessed on the basis of their academic achievements, and the Vice-Chancellor will make the final decision.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a targeted scholarship. You must be starting or already undertaking a PhD programme at this particular university, meaning there are fewer applicants competing for the place than in open national programmes. With around 20 places available, your chances are good if you already have a place on a PhD programme in Murcia and have an outstanding academic record. A compelling application and the timely submission of your documents are key to success.
