About this scholarship
What you get
With this scholarship, your 885 EUR and your full tuition fees at a partner university in the United States for one or two semesters will be covered. Tuition fees in the US are often very high, so this exemption is worth several thousand euros. Apart from the 885 EUR, there is no monthly cash payment. The scholarship is aimed at students at the University of Alcalá (UAH) near Madrid. It is administered by the university’s Instituto Franklin, a research institute for North American studies. As living costs are not covered, you can also apply for the separate ‘UAH Movilidad Global’ scholarship to help cover your day-to-day expenses in the USA.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled on an official Master’s programme at the University of Alcalá. Most places are allocated to Bachelor’s students; therefore, places on Master’s programmes are only offered in certain cases.
- English: You have a TOEFL score of at least 80%, obtained online.
- Own funds: You can prove that you have at least 6,000 EUR in your bank account to cover your living costs, as the scholarship only covers tuition fees.
- Host university conditions: You meet the language and academic requirements set by the US partner university to which you are applying.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are studying at the UAH.
How to apply
You should submit your application documents to your faculty’s International Office (ORI), either by email or in person. The deadline is 20 December. The University of Alcalá will carry out a preliminary selection, and the host university in the US will confirm your final admission.
How realistic are your chances?
The admission requirements are strict. You must already be enrolled at the University of Alcalá, have a good TOEFL score and provide evidence that you have savings of 6,000 EUR. For the Master’s programme, the number of places is even smaller, as most places are reserved for Bachelor’s students. If you clearly meet these requirements and apply by the deadline, your chances are good. Please note that places on the Master’s programme are limited and are not offered every year.
