About this scholarship

What you get

With 6,250 EUR, you can fund a professional development project in the field of literature or the performing arts, such as a course, a workshop or an artist-in-residence programme. The activity does not have to take place as part of a formal degree programme and can be carried out in any country. The grant is paid in two instalments: half as an advance once you have received the grant, and the remainder once you have provided proof that the activity has been completed. The Regional Government of La Rioja funds the programme to support young artists from the region in their further training. In this call for applications, 2 grants will be awarded in the fields of literature and the performing arts, with the total amount of 37,500 EUR distributed across three artistic disciplines.

Who can apply

  • Age: You are under 35.
  • Residence: You are registered as a resident in a municipality in La Rioja (Spain) and were already registered there before the call for applications was published.
  • Field: Your project relates to literature or the performing arts. You may only apply for one of the three artistic fields.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply; the key requirement is that you live in La Rioja.
  • Degree: No specific qualifications are required.
  • Past grants: If you have held one of these grants before, in any area, you must wait three years before applying again.

How to apply

You must submit your application via the La Rioja Regional Government’s online portal or in person at an official registry office. Your application must be accompanied by a description of your training project, including a budget, proof of your residence in La Rioja, and a letter of support from an official training institution or a recognised expert in your field. Applications are assessed as part of an open selection process based on the quality of the project and your previous achievements.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is narrowly defined: you must fall under 35 and be registered in La Rioja, meaning that only a small local group is competing for the 2 places. If you meet these criteria and submit a clear, well-thought-out project with a convincing letter of recommendation, your chances are good. The quality of your project and your experience are crucial – so focus on those aspects.
