About this scholarship

Atlantic Copper Foundation scholarship (University of Huelva)

You get help covering the real costs of your studies at the University of Huelva. This includes your official tuition fees (the part a state grant does not already cover), plus a cost allowance based on where you live. There are three levels. If you live in the city of Huelva, you get help with study materials. If you commute from nearby, you also get travel costs. If you live too far to stay at home, you also get help with accommodation. The foundation sets the exact amounts each year and does not publish them in advance. You can renew the scholarship each year as long as you still meet the conditions. It comes from the Atlantic Copper Foundation, a non-profit based in Huelva that has awarded 792 of these scholarships since 2009.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying for an official Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree at the University of Huelva.
  • Field of study: Every course offered by the university.
  • Nationality: You are a Spanish national.
  • Where you live: You’ll be living in the province of Huelva for the whole school year.
  • Age: You are 18 years old or older, or you have your parents’ permission.
  • Financial need: Your family income is low and is at or close to the thresholds for a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education (MEC).
  • Grades (new students): At least 8.00 out of 10 on your university entrance qualification or vocational qualification, enrolled for at least 60 credit points, without having to repeat a school year.
  • Grades (continuing students): You have earned 100% credit points in the last academic year and are enrolled for at least 60 further credit points. The required grade point average depends on your field of study: 8.25 for the humanities, 7.50 for engineering and architecture, and 8.00 for all other fields of study and for the Master’s programme.
  • No double funding: You do not receive another foundation scholarship in the same year.

How to apply

Please complete the online form on the Foundation’s website and submit your documents by email. The application period runs from 15 November to 31 December for the academic year for which you wish to apply for a grant. The Foundation will carry out a preliminary selection, invite you to an interview if necessary, and make its decision during the first semester.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are quite narrow: applicants must be Spanish citizens, live in the province of Huelva, be studying at the local university and, in addition to good grades, demonstrate a genuine financial need. This keeps the pool of eligible applicants small. In the year 2025/26, the 56 Foundation received applications, of which 31 were awarded grants; therefore, well-suited applicants have a good chance of success. If you clearly meet the income and academic thresholds and can provide evidence of this, your chances are good.
