What you get

You get a one-off grant of 2,800 EUR. Use it to spend at least one month abroad in one of the University of Valencia's priority development countries. You can volunteer, do a compulsory internship, or join a training activity. The money covers your flight, health insurance and related travel costs. It comes from the University of Valencia's own solidarity budget. For 2025-2026 there are 10 grants, worth 28,000 EUR in total. From the 2026-2027 round on, the grant is paid in two halves: 50% when you arrive and 50% once you finish.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled in a master's degree at the University of Valencia (UV).
• Field of study: Your master's is one of 19 eligible programmes. These range from Development Cooperation, Human Rights and Migration Studies to Tropical Parasitic Diseases, Public Health, Medical Physics and Cultural Heritage.
• Where you go: Your stay is in one of the listed priority countries, mostly in Latin America, Africa and parts of Asia. Examples include Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Senegal, Morocco, Kenya, India and the Philippines.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply. You just cannot do your placement in the country you are a national of.
• Bank account: You have a bank account in Spain to receive the payment.
• No double funding: You do not receive another grant for the same trip from anywhere else.

How to apply

You apply online through the University of Valencia's electronic register. You need an application form, a work plan signed by your master's coordinator, plus your ID and bank details. For 2026-2027 the window runs from 22 July to 9 September 2026. Selection is a competition based only on your written documents. Development Cooperation master's students doing a compulsory internship rank first, then students who have finished at least 80% of their master's modules. Grade averages break any ties.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly: you must be a UV master's student in one of a fixed list of programmes and travel to a specific set of countries, so the pool is small. With 10 grants on offer, your prospects are reasonable if you fit clearly. But the ranking openly favours Development Cooperation students on compulsory internships and applicants far along in their studies with strong grades, so those groups have the real edge.
