University of Valladolid - Social Emergency Grants to Students of the University of Valladolid

What you get

You will receive up to 900 EUR per application to enable you to continue your studies if you are short of money. The grant primarily covers your tuition fees (enrolment fees), provided you do not receive any other state student finance. It may be supplemented by a grant towards accommodation and living costs if you are living on a University of Valladolid campus away from your parents’ home. For a Master’s programme, the maximum amount is 40% of your total tuition fees. The University’s Office for Social Responsibility administers the programme to prevent students from having to drop out of their studies for financial reasons. As part of the same call for applications, there are also separate funding categories for students with a disability of 65% or higher, students with children under 3 of nursery age, and students affected by gender-based violence.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s (Grado) or Master’s degree programme at the University of Valladolid this academic year.
• Financial need: Your family’s income is not sufficient to fund your studies, or another social circumstance is jeopardising your studies.
• No double funding: You will not receive any other public grant for the same purpose (from the Ministry, the state government, the province or the university). Erasmus and similar mobility grants are permitted.
• Grades: Last year, you passed at least 50% of the credit points you were enrolled on (40% for technical or engineering degree programmes). First-year students are exempt from this requirement, and students who are completing their degree may be exempted on a one-off basis.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the University’s electronic portal (sede.uva.es), where you will need to log in using your University account or a digital certificate. Please attach the documents proving your financial situation. You have 15 working days from the date the call for applications is published on the university’s electronic noticeboard. In genuine emergencies, the committee may accept late applications, provided that funds are still available.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is aimed exclusively at students in Valladolid who find themselves in genuine financial hardship; therefore, eligibility is restricted to those who can demonstrate a genuine need. If you clearly meet the criteria regarding income and academic progress and can provide solid evidence of your circumstances, your chances are good. As funds are limited and the individual grant amounts are modest, a clear, documented need is more important than a polished application.
