Autonomous Community of Aragon - Traineeships for graduates in Journalism and Communication Studies

What you get

You will receive a paid internship worth 1,000 EUR per month (12,000 EUR per year), paid before deduction of tax and social security contributions, for a period of up to 12 months, with no option to extend. You will work 25 to 35 hours per week on a practical programme run by the communications department of the Government of Aragon (a region in north-eastern Spain) or at a media organisation in Aragon. In addition to your practical work, you will take courses, attend conferences and seminars, and undertake work placements in the media. For social security purposes, you will be classified as an employee, and your travel expenses for training trips will be reimbursed. Five internship places are available.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a Spanish national or a national of another EU country.
• Link to Aragon: You were born in Aragon or have been registered as a resident there for at least six months by the application deadline.
• Degree: You must hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism or audiovisual communication. A foreign qualification will be recognised provided it is recognised in Spain.
• Timing: You must have completed this qualification no later than five years before the application deadline.
• No repeat: You have not previously completed an internship of this kind under the Aragon programme for a period of more than six months.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Aragon Regional Government’s electronic portal. You will need a Spanish digital ID card or Cl@ve access. The next round runs from 21 July to 10 August 2026. First, your application documents will be assessed, including an essay of between 2,500 and 3,500 words on a current topic in the field of journalism or media. The applicants with the highest scores will then be invited to an interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is very selective: there are only five places available, and applicants must have a connection to Aragon as well as a specific degree in journalism or communication studies obtained within the last five years. As a result, the pool of applicants is small compared to open scholarships. If you clearly meet these criteria and put real effort into your essay and interview, your chances are good.
