Carlos III University of Madrid - Alumni Scholarships

Benefit

You will receive 3,600 EUR per academic year for a bachelor’s degree (Grado) or a dual degree (Doble Grado) at Carlos III University in Madrid, Spain. The funding applies for the entire duration of your studies, provided you continue to meet the requirements for renewal. You will also receive personalised support throughout your studies, including academic and career guidance right up until you enter the labour market. The scholarship is funded by donations from former students of UC3M, partner companies and the university’s own foundation. In each award round, 12 new scholarships are awarded, one of which is reserved for a student with a disability. Upon completion of your studies, you undertake to return at least 50% of the total funding received as a future donation, so that the next student can in turn be supported.

Eligibility

• Degree: You are a first-year student on a Bachelor’s or dual degree programme at Carlos III University in Madrid.
• Field of study: Every degree programme at the university.
• Age: You were born on or after 1 January 2006.
• School results: You have completed the Spanish Bachillerato (or an equivalent qualification recognised in Spain) and achieved at least 8 out of 10 marks in the general phase of the university entrance examination (PAU). If you hold an International Baccalaureate or have completed advanced vocational modules, your average mark across the entire educational cycle will be taken into account.
• Financial need: Your family cannot afford to fund your studies. The exact income thresholds are set out in the official call for applications.
• Residence: Your family has been resident in Spain for tax purposes for at least two years.
• No prior degree: You do not yet hold a university degree or an equivalent qualification.
• Moving to study: Studying at UC3M means leaving your usual place of residence. The scholarship is primarily aimed at students from other regions of Spain.
• Disability reserve place: To be eligible for the scholarship for students with disabilities, you must have a recognised disability of at least 33%.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the alumni scholarship form. The application period runs from mid-May until 19. Shortlisted applicants will attend a face-to-face interview at the UC3M Alumni Office before a final decision is made. Your place at the university is also conditional upon you passing the university entrance examination and enrolling at UC3M as your first choice.

How realistic are your chances?

Only 12 scholarships are awarded per round, and the eligibility criteria are strict: a high mark in the entrance examination, demonstrable financial need, and a move to Madrid to study at a specific university. This keeps the pool of eligible applicants small; so if you clearly meet all the criteria and can demonstrate financial need, your chances are good. The interview and the high standards mean that a well-reasoned application is of the utmost importance.
