Becas Galicia Europa

You get a gross grant of 16,500 EUR over 11 months, about 1,500 EUR per month, for a paid traineeship in European Union affairs at the Galicia Europa Foundation's office in Brussels. You also get a 500 EUR travel allowance, paid in advance, and health insurance in Belgium. The grant comes from the Fundacion Publica Galicia Europa, a public foundation of the Galician regional government (Xunta de Galicia). Your monthly amount is paid after income tax and social security are deducted. This is a training grant, not an employment contract. You cannot combine it with another scholarship, paid work or unemployment benefit.

Who can apply

• Degree: You have finished a university degree. The exact field depends on the yearly round. Recent rounds asked for law graduates, or for graduates in journalism, audiovisual communication or advertising and public relations.
• How recent: Your degree must be fairly fresh. For the law round, you must have obtained it in 2021 or later. For the communication round, within the last seven years.
• Nationality: You are Spanish or a citizen of another EU country.
• Link to Galicia: You were born in Galicia, have a Galician parent, or have been officially registered as living in Galicia for at least two years.
• No repeat: You have not held a Galicia Europa grant before.
• Languages and grades help: Strong marks and a high level of English or French score extra points in selection. They are not a strict cut-off.

How to apply

You apply electronically through the Xunta de Galicia's online portal within the application window set for that year's round. Selection has two stages. First, your CV, grades, extra studies and language certificates are scored. Then the top-scoring candidates are invited to a personal interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a tightly cut award: only one or two places per round, open to graduates in a specific field who also have a real link to Galicia and finished their degree recently. That keeps the applicant pool small, so if you clearly fit the field and the Galicia requirement, your prospects are decent. Strong grades and good English or French separate candidates, and only the highest scorers reach the interview.
