About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a scholarship that covers part or all of your enrolment fee for a course offered by the Centro Mediterráneo (CEMED) at the University of Granada. Scholarships are generally around 120 euros, although the exact amount is determined individually for each applicant and will never exceed your course fee. This means that, at most, the course will cost you nothing. CEMED offers short, non-degree-leading courses in the province of Granada, Ceuta and Melilla, mostly during the summer. Subject areas include health sciences, experimental and technical sciences, social sciences, economics, law and the humanities. For each course for which scholarships are offered, CEMED provides up to 10% of the course’s enrolment fees and distributes this amount amongst eligible applicants based on their grade point averages.

Who can apply

  • Enrolment: You are registered for a CEMED course. Not every course offers scholarships, so please check the course page first.
  • Level: You are a current student or a graduate. Master's or doctoral students must be on a course of at least 60 ECTS credits.
  • Field of study: All the topics covered by CEMED.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Financial need: Your family’s income and assets must be below the thresholds set under the Spanish government’s general grant scheme (Becas de Carácter General). If you exceed the income or assets limit, you will not be eligible for the grant.
  • Grades: Your grade average (scored 0 to 10) decides how large your share is. If you studied outside the University of Granada and do not hand in a transcript, you are scored a 5.
  • Completion: You must attend the course and complete it successfully. Certification will only be confirmed once you have completed the course.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted by email at the time of registration and must always be received at least one week before the course begins. For summer courses, this means a deadline of 21 June. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Results are announced twice a year, in May and November, following completion of the course.

How realistic are your chances?

The pool is narrow. Only students on that one course who stay under the income and asset limits compete, and each course sets aside a fixed slice of its own fees. If you clearly meet the financial limits, hand in your transcript to secure a real grade score and apply on time, your prospects are solid. Since the award cannot exceed your fee, it helps most on low-cost courses, where it can cover the whole enrolment.
