Archival Science traineeship at the Valencian Parliament

You will receive 1,292.50 EUR per month (15,510 EUR gross per year) for 12 months. You will work up to 30 hours per week in the archives department of the Corts Valencianes, the Parliament of the Valencian Community in Spain. You will be registered with the general Spanish social security system and covered by accident insurance for the entire duration of the placement. The placement will provide you with practical experience in handling parliamentary and administrative documents and will help you get started in the civil service. It does not constitute an employment relationship, cannot be extended and cannot be combined with any other grant or employment during the same period.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a university degree in archival science, information and documentation science, or library and documentation science (e.g. a ‘Grado en Información y Documentación’ or an equivalent qualification).
• How recent: You completed your degree no more than 5 years ago.
• Age: You are under 35.
• Nationality and language: You are from Spain, another EU country, or from Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. If you are not a Spanish national, you must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of Spanish or Valencian, the official languages of the region.
• No prior grant: You have not yet completed more than one semester of the archives placement at this parliament.
• Clean record: You are up to date with your tax and social security contributions.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the Corts Valencianes’ online portal or in person at its main registry office in Valencia. You must submit a self-assessment form; the application deadline is around 15 July. Points are awarded for your academic grades, archival courses, proficiency in Valencian and other languages, IT skills and other merits. The 10 candidates with the highest scores will be invited to a face-to-face interview about their education and archival expertise, and only these candidates will be required to submit supporting documents.

How realistic are your chances?

This vacancy is very limited in scope: only two posts are available, and you must hold a recent degree in archival studies, be under the age of 35, and speak Spanish or Valencian. This means the pool of applicants remains small. Given the two-stage assessment process and the interview, strong academic performance and additional courses are important. If you clearly meet the profile and prepare well for the interview, your chances are realistic.
