University of Castilla-La Mancha/Enresa Foundation - Enresa Foundation Doctoral Fellowships

Benefit

You will receive 1,000 EUR per month for up to 3 years for your doctoral thesis at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) in Spain. The funding comes from the ‘Cátedra ENRESA’, a research chair run jointly by the university and ENRESA, the Spanish state-owned company responsible for the disposal of radioactive waste. Your research aligns with the chair’s main areas of focus: energy, the environment and sustainability, with a particular emphasis on nuclear energy and radioactive waste.

Eligibility

• Degree level: You are enrolled on a PhD programme at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
• Field of study: Engineering, preferably mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, energy efficiency or materials science, with a focus on energy and nuclear waste research.
• Where you study: One of the UCLM campuses in Spain (Albacete, Toledo, Ciudad Real or Cuenca).
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Merits: A selection panel assesses candidates on the basis of their CVs: professional training, language skills and other relevant achievements.

How to apply

Please send your CV and the relevant supporting documents to the Vice-Rectorate for Research at UCLM. The deadline for applications is 20 December. A selection panel will then assess the applicants on the basis of the qualifications listed in their CVs.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are very narrow. You must be a PhD student at a specific Spanish university in the field of engineering and be researching topics relating to energy and nuclear waste. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly fit into this field, are already enrolled at the UCLM and apply by the deadline with a detailed, well-documented CV, your chances are good.
