What you get

You receive a monthly top-up on your Erasmus+ grant while you study abroad: 195 EUR, 165 EUR or 125 EUR per month depending on the cost of living in your destination, for a stay of 2 to 9 months. The higher rate covers pricier countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Ireland or the Nordic states. The middle rate covers countries like Portugal, Greece, the Baltics and Malta. The lower rate covers countries such as Poland, Hungary, Romania, Croatia and Turkey. The money comes from the Xunta de Galicia, the regional government, and adds to what the EU already pays you, so you get both.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled in the 2025/26 year at a public university in Galicia (Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña or Vigo).
• Degree level: You are studying for an official bachelor's degree (grado).
• Erasmus+ place: You already hold an Erasmus+ study grant for 2025/26, approved by your university.
• Where you go: You physically travel to an Erasmus+ programme country. Online-only stays do not qualify.
• Not your home country: Any nationality can apply, but you cannot do your exchange in a country you are a national of.
• First time: You have not received this top-up before. It is granted only once.

How to apply

You apply online through the Xunta de Galicia electronic office (sede.xunta.gal), using an electronic certificate or the Chave365 login. The application window runs for one month from the day after the call is published. For 2025/26 it ran from 3 January to 2 February 2026. Awards are decided in competition against other applicants, based on data your university's international office sends in.

How realistic are your chances?

This top-up is narrowly targeted: you must already have an Erasmus+ place and study at a Galician public university, so the pool is limited to that group. The total budget is close to 1.9 million EUR spread over modest monthly amounts, so many students can be funded. If you meet the requirements and apply within the one-month window, your prospects are good.
