What you get

You will receive 1,260 EUR gross per month if you hold a university degree. INTA pays this amount for two years and may extend it for a further year. If you hold a Spanish higher-level vocational qualification (Formación Profesional de Grado Superior) or an equivalent qualification, the rate is 945 EUR gross per month. The remuneration is paid by INTA, the Spanish National Aerospace Research Institute, which reports to the Ministry of Defence. You will also gain practical experience working on real INTA projects in the fields of aerospace, engineering and natural sciences, mainly at the Torrejón de Ardoz site near Madrid. Each intern is assigned a supervisor who will support you in your work. INTA may also cover travel expenses for project-related travel, provided you obtain prior authorisation.

Who can apply

• Qualification: You hold an official university degree, an official Higher Vocational Training diploma (Formación Profesional de Grado Superior) or an equivalent qualification.
• Recent graduate: You must have completed your degree no later than four years before the application deadline.
• Nationality: You are a Spanish national, a national of another EU country, or a non-EU national living in Spain at the time of application.
• Field of study: Mainly engineering and natural sciences. The calls for applications also cover telecommunications, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology and even economics, law and science communication. The exact subject areas required are listed in each call for applications.
• No prior INTA link: You have not yet completed an internship at INTA, nor have you been in a similar employment relationship with INTA.
• Full commitment: You can work full-time. You cannot combine this benefit with any other benefit, employment or unemployment benefit.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the Spanish Ministry of Defence’s electronic portal (Sede Electrónica, under the ‘INTA-Becas’ section) or in person at INTA. The deadline for applications is 20.06. During the selection process, your grade point average (up to 4 points) and your CV (up to 2 points) will be assessed. The five best applicants for each post will then be invited to an interview, which will be assessed with up to 2 additional points.

How realistic are your chances?

The placement is very specific. You must have recently completed a degree in a subject area required by INTA and be able to work full-time at the Madrid office, which means the pool of applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. Only a handful of applicants per vacancy are shortlisted for interview, so good grades and a CV that aligns with the advertised topics are crucial. If you are a good fit for a particular role and apply early, your prospects are good.
