Autonomous Community of Cantabria - IT Traineeship in the Department of Education, Culture and Sports

What you get

You have been offered a paid IT placement with the Regional Government of Cantabria in northern Spain, specifically within the Department of Vocational Training and Lifelong Learning. The placement will last for up to 1 year and will start on 1 at the earliest. November 2026. It may be extended once by up to 12 further months, provided that the total duration does not exceed two years. You will work full-time on tasks relating to IT and communications. You will receive your salary monthly, once your supervisor has confirmed your attendance.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a Spanish national or a national of another EU country.
• Qualification: You hold one of three Spanish higher vocational education (FP Superior) qualifications: Development of Multi-platform Applications, Development of Web Applications or Administration of Networked Computer Systems.
• When you qualified: You completed this course during the school year 2018–2019 or later.
• Fitness for the work: You are fit enough to carry out the tasks involved in the work placement.
• Past traineeships: You have not already held Cantabria government training grants for two years or more in total.
• Clean record: You have not been dismissed from a public body as a result of disciplinary proceedings.

How to apply

You can apply online via the Cantabria electronic register or in person at the Registry Office in Santander. For the 2026 cycle, the application deadline was 22 September. Selection is based on your experience and qualifications. In previous rounds, a face-to-face interview was also part of the process.

How realistic are your chances?

This is an individual work placement with strict entry requirements. You must hold one of three specific Spanish IT qualifications from higher vocational education, obtained between 2018 and 2019 or later, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly hold the correct qualification and can provide evidence of relevant IT and language certificates or professional experience, your prospects are good. The call for applications takes place roughly every year; so if you miss one round, you can wait for the next one.
