Benefit

You will receive a individually set amount for one academic year to undertake a Master’s or PhD programme at one of Harvard University’s graduate schools or professional schools. The funds may be used to cover tuition fees and living costs. The Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard (RCCHU) and the Harvard Committee on General Scholarships determine the exact amount for each scholarship holder; therefore, no fixed sum is published. You may apply for renewal each year until you have completed your studies, provided you can demonstrate good academic progress. Scholarship recipients become RCCHU Fellows, i.e. members of the college with the associated benefits. If the scholarship covers the full annual costs charged by Harvard, it may not be combined with other funding for the same course of study. If it covers only a portion of the costs, you may supplement it with other scholarships.

Eligibility

• Degree: You already hold a university degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s or equivalent).
• Where you study: You are enrolled on a postgraduate programme (Master’s or PhD) at Harvard University, or are about to enrol.
• English: If required as part of the annual call for applications, you will need a TOEFL score of at least 100.
• Visa: You will need a J-1 visa, which must be supported by your department at Harvard University.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Preferred background: Preference will be given to applicants from one of the seven RCCHU partner universities in Spain (Complutense University of Madrid, Technical University of Madrid, University of Alcalá de Henares, University of Valencia, University of Seville, University of Oviedo and University of Castilla-La Mancha), as well as to Spanish and European citizens.

How to apply

Read the call for applications for the current year, then complete the online form on the RCCHU website and upload your documents before the deadline. The representative at your partner university will review your application and give their approval.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a small target group: graduates who have been admitted to Harvard University and who come from, or are affiliated with, the RCCHU’s Spanish partner universities. As a result, the pool of applicants remains small. However, you must first secure a place at Harvard University – and that is the most difficult step. If you have already been admitted and meet the criteria for the partner universities, your prospects with the RCCHU are good.
