About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive financial grants from Pablo de Olavide University (UPO) in Seville to cover the actual costs of your bachelor’s degree. The four grants may amount to a total of approximately 800 EUR, and you can apply for those that best suit your circumstances:

  • Your paid enrolment fees are covered, up to what you actually paid. The selection committee sets the exact amount.
  • A lump sum of 150 EUR for books and learning materials.
  • A travel allowance of 100 EUR to 250 EUR, depending on how far you live from campus. You will receive an additional 50% if you have a recognised disability of 65% or more.
  • A housing grant if you have to live away from your family home to study.

The total budget for this year is 80,000 euros, which will be divided amongst all successful applicants.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are enrolled on an official Bachelor’s degree programme (Grado) at the UPO and have not yet obtained a degree at the same or a higher level.
  • Field of study: Open to all disciplines.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. They simply need to be enrolled at the UPO.
  • Financial need: Your household’s net income must remain below certain thresholds. For example, approximately 13,898 EUR for a single-person household or 38,242 EUR for a four-person household, with higher thresholds applying to larger families. There are also asset limits.
  • Grades: Last year, you passed at least 70% of the credits you were enrolled for (50% for engineering subjects). In the first year of study, your university entrance qualification is taken into account instead.
  • No full national grant: You do not already receive a full national grant from the Ministry of Education. You were also not turned down for one because your income or assets were too high.

How to apply

You apply online via the UPO’s electronic portal (Sede Electrónica). Complete the application form and attach supporting documents relating to your family and financial circumstances. For the current cycle, the application deadline was 27 March. The same committee that also administers the national ministry’s funding reviews the applications and recommends who should receive funding.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant scheme is very restrictive. You must be studying at a specific university, meet strict income limits and have good grades, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small and regionally limited. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence of your financial situation, your chances are good. The grant amount of 80,000 EUR is divided amongst recipients, so it is to your advantage to submit your application with a complete set of documents.
