Communication traineeship at the Generalitat Valenciana

You will receive 1,000 EUR gross per month for 12 months. The Regional Government of Valencia (Generalitat Valenciana) may extend this period by up to 12 further months. You will undertake a paid placement in the communications departments of the Presidency and the ministries of the Region of Valencia. You will work up to 30 hours per week and gain practical experience in journalism or the audiovisual sector within the regional government. There are 29 places available: 19 for journalists and 10 for professionals in the audiovisual sector.

Who can apply

• Degree: You hold a degree in journalism, audiovisual communication or information sciences (specialising in journalism or audiovisual media) recognised by the Spanish or EU authorities.
• How recent: You completed your degree no more than 5 years before the deadline.
• Age: You are 35 years old or younger on the cut-off date.
• Nationality: You are a Spanish national or a national of another EU country. If you are not a Spanish national, you must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of Spanish or Valencian, the official languages of the region.
• Prior traineeships: You have not yet received an internship grant from the Generalitat for 36 months or more.

How to apply

You apply online via the Generalitat’s electronic portal using an electronic certificate or your DNI. You upload your CV, and the system assesses it automatically. You have 15 working days to apply; the deadline begins the day after the vacancy is published. If you are shortlisted, you will attend a compulsory interview in which you will be asked about current issues in the Region of Valencia, the organisation of the government, and your communication skills.

How realistic are your chances?

This work placement is very specific. You must hold a specific degree in the field of communication, obtained within the last 5 years; you must not be older than 35; and the placement is linked to the Regional Government of Valencia. As a result, the pool of applicants is smaller than for open scholarships. If you clearly meet the academic and age requirements and prepare well for the interview on regional topics, your prospects for one of the 29 places are quite good.
