Benefit

You will receive one-time payment of up to 2,000 EUR. The exact amount depends on your country: in the UK and Ireland it is 2,000 EUR; in other countries it may be lower. You can spend the money on anything that helps you with your studies. It is provided by the Yamaha Music Europe Foundation, which supports young musicians on their path to a professional career. Each year, the award is given for an instrument or a specialism. For 2026/2027, this is classical piano. A total of 44 grants are awarded to students in 33 European countries.

Eligibility

• Where you study: You are enrolled at a recognised music college, conservatoire or music academy in Europe.
• Field: The subject changes every year. To study 2026/2027, you must be a student on the classical piano course.
• Age: At the time the scholarship is awarded – which is usually in February or March – you must be 25 years old or younger.
• Career aim: You are training to become a professional musician.
• Nationality: Students from the 33 European countries are eligible to take part. The eligibility criteria vary slightly from country to country; please therefore check the criteria for your country. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, you must have been born on or after 1 April 2001 and be studying full-time at a British or Irish conservatoire or university.

How to apply

You fill in the online form and upload a video of yourself playing. The form will be available from 2026 October, and the deadline is 30 November 2026. A panel of judges will select up to ten finalists per country based on the videos. These finalists will then be invited to a national live audition, where the judges will choose the winners.

How realistic are your chances?

Each year, the competition is limited to a single discipline (classical piano for 2026/2027) and one age group, so that only musicians with similar backgrounds compete against one another. As there are only 44 prizes to be shared amongst 33 countries, selection depends on your performance in both the video and live auditions. If you are a strong pianist who clearly meets the criteria, you have a genuine chance of success. You will be judged solely on your musical ability and potential.
