About this grant / loan
Santander Universities Brighter Futures Grant
You get a one-off payment of about 1,150 EUR (£1,000). Spend it on study resources, exam preparation, rent, bills or anything else that makes student life easier. There are no monthly payments and nothing to repay. Santander Universities UK gives the grant together with UWE Bristol, which hands out 10 grants to its own students each round. You do not need a Santander bank account.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at UWE Bristol.
- Level: Undergraduate or postgraduate, in any year of study.
- Enrolment: Full time or part time both count.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- Nationality: Any nationality. No income limit or other restriction applies.
- Student ID: You know your UWE student ID to enter on the form.
How to apply
Register on the Santander Open Academy platform and confirm your email. Then apply for the Brighter Futures Grant by selecting University of the West of England and entering your student ID. The autumn 2025 round runs from 6 October to 27 November 2025. Winners are chosen after the deadline. The grant also opens in spring rounds.
How realistic are your chances?
10 grants are reserved just for UWE Bristol students, with no limit on nationality, subject or income. Applying is easy, but the pool of eligible students is large. Because the conditions are so open, your chances come down to the selection rather than meeting narrow criteria. Applying takes little effort, so do it early in the round.
