Jeremy Cubitt Prize

You will receive a one-off cash prize of approximately 620 EUR (paid in British pounds) to support your art or painting studies. Two art students receive this prize each year. The prize is sponsored by a small British charity, established in memory of Jeremy Cubitt, to help people begin or continue their art studies. It is linked to art studies at University College London (UCL) and its Slade School of Fine Art.

Who can apply

• Field of study: You’re studying art or painting.
• Where you study: You are studying art at UCL and its Slade School of Fine Art.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• How you are chosen: You cannot apply yourself. The members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees will select the two students to receive the prize.

How realistic are your chances?

Each year, only two students receive this prize, and they are selected by the members of the board of trustees. There is no open application process, so you cannot nominate yourself. The foundation is very small and has only a modest income, so the prize money is modest and its reach is limited. Please regard this as a form of recognition for which, as an art student, you may be nominated under the right circumstances, rather than as a prize for which you can compete directly.
