About this award / prize

Kenneth Armitage Sculpture Prize

For outstanding achievement in the field of sculpture, you will receive a one-off prize of about 1,170 EUR (£1,000). The Kenneth Armitage Foundation awards this prize to a student at the Slade School of Fine Art, which is part of University College London (UCL). The prize is awarded at irregular intervals; it is not awarded every year.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at the Slade School of Fine Art at UCL in London.
  • Field of study: You work as a sculptor.
  • Study phase: You are a sculpture student who is about to graduate, or a sculpture student on a Master’s programme.
  • Achievement: You have produced some impressive works in the field of sculpture.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How realistic are your chances?

There is no application form. The Kenneth Armitage Foundation selects the winner itself from amongst the sculpture students at the Slade School of Fine Art, so that the prize goes to the work it considers to be the best. The pool of candidates is very small and limited to sculpture students at a single university, but you cannot apply yourself. Focus on the strengths of your sculpture and bring it to the attention of your tutors. The prize is awarded only occasionally, so it is possible that no prize will be awarded in a given year.
