CUS Venezia "Good in Study, Good in Sports" scholarship

You will receive 1,500 EUR per year as well as free enrolment at your university for one academic year. You will also receive free access to the university’s fitness and sports facilities, as well as sportswear from CUS Venezia. You can earn some extra income by promoting sport in local schools or coaching a youth team. CUS Venezia, the university sports centre, awards the scholarship in partnership with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and IUAV University of Venice. Every year, 4 scholarships are awarded: 2 for IUAV students and 2 for Ca’ Foscari students.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying for a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice or IUAV University of Venice. Erasmus exchange students, visiting students and students on Master’s programmes in continuing education are not eligible to apply.
• Where you live: You do not live in the city of Venice (Comune di Venezia).
• Study progress: You have earned enough credits (CFU) for your academic year. First-year students and PhD students do not need any.
• Grades: You have a good track record of academic achievement at school or university.
• Sport: You are prepared to play for a CUS Venezia volleyball team during the season (men’s team in Serie C, women’s team in Serie D). If you are selected, you will also represent the university at national or international competitions.
• Club status: You are not yet a full member of CUS Venezia. If you win, you can seek permission from your current club to play for CUS Venezia.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.

How to apply

Please send the application form, together with your sporting CV and academic certificates, to CUS Venezia by post, courier or email. For 2026-2027, the application deadline is 10. September 2026 at 12:00. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to one or more training sessions, during which they will be assessed by the coaches. A combined academic and sporting ranking will determine the two winners per university.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is very specific. You must be studying at one of the two universities in Venice, live outside Venice, and be a high-calibre volleyball player who is good enough to be accepted into a CUS Venezia team. With only 4 places available and a sporting aptitude test to be taken, your level of volleyball is more important than your academic grades. If you clearly meet all these conditions and perform well in the selection test, your chances are good, as the pool of eligible applicants is small.
