About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive 1,440 EUR in total (approximately 1,250 GBP per year, paid out over three years). The money is intended to cover your living costs whilst you are studying for your Bachelor’s degree at Queen Mary University of London. A London-based charity provides the funding, and the university pays it out. You will receive the money each year, provided your studies are progressing well. Students studying medicine and dentistry may be eligible for funding for the full duration of their degree, which may take longer than three years. Ten of these scholarships are awarded each year.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are starting a Bachelor’s degree at Queen Mary University of London.
  • Subject: You are studying natural sciences and engineering, humanities and social sciences, or medicine or dentistry.
  • Where you live: Your permanent residence is in the City of London or in the London borough of Tower Hamlets, and you have been living there for at least three years.
  • Age: At the start of your course, you will be at 25.
  • Household income: Student Finance England estimates your household income to be 42,875 GBP per year or less. You must undergo a full means test, even if you are not taking out a student loan, so that your declared income can be verified.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, but must meet the eligibility criteria for student finance from the UK government. International students who receive only a loan to cover their tuition fees are not eligible to apply.

How to apply

You can apply online via the university’s MySIS portal as soon as you have enrolled. Select the option ‘Scholarship for Bachelor’s students’ and complete the forms. The application round for the start of studies in 2026/27 begins in September 2026. If your application is shortlisted, it will be forwarded to the funding foundation, which will make the final decision in the second half of the year.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is subject to strict conditions: you must live in one of two specific London boroughs, be under 25 years of age and meet the income threshold. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants remains small. As ten funding places are awarded each year, anyone who clearly meets all these criteria has a good chance of success. Have your means test carried out by Student Finance and apply as soon as the application round opens.
