What you get

This programme funded Indonesian researchers to undertake a full postgraduate degree in the UK. It covered tuition fees, accommodation costs and a monthly living allowance, meaning that a PhD or Master’s degree was free of charge for participants. A PhD programme lasted three years. A smaller number of Master’s places were designed to last one to two years. Funding was provided by the Indonesian government via DIKTI, its Directorate of Higher Education, and the programme was administered by Universities UK International. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) was one of more than 77 British universities from which students could choose.

Eligibility

• Who you are: You are a lecturer at an Indonesian university or an administrative staff member at DIKTI or at a state-run Indonesian university.
• Nationality: You are Indonesian.
• Level: You would like to start a PhD or Master’s degree at a British university.
• Field of study: Any topic or field of research.

How realistic are your chances?

This is no longer relevant: the DIKTI scholarship for Indonesia and the UK ran as a five-year programme from 2013 to around 2018 and is no longer available. NTU continues to award a separate Indonesia scholarship worth 4,000 GBP (approximately 4,700 EUR) for Indonesian Master’s students; however, this is a different, smaller grant which is not equivalent to this DIKTI programme.
