About this award / prize

Syngenta Awards

You will receive a cash prize of about 50 EUR as well as the opportunity to meet employers from the chemical industry. Previous winners have used these contacts to find out about career opportunities for chemistry graduates. The award recognises undergraduate chemistry students at the University of Nottingham for outstanding academic achievement. It is sponsored by Syngenta, a global plant protection and agrochemicals company, and is presented annually at the School of Chemistry. Several students may be awarded the prize in the same year.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are a Bachelor’s student at the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham.
  • Subject: You are studying chemistry as part of a BSc or MSci degree programme. This also includes specialisations such as medical or biological chemistry.
  • Grades: You are amongst the best students, ideally with the highest overall mark.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply.

How realistic are your chances?

You do not need to apply for this prize. The university selects the winners based on their academic performance, so there is no need to submit anything. It is awarded to the best chemistry students, which makes it very difficult to win. Only a small group at any university can win it. Please note that the Syngenta Awards are no longer listed in the University of Nottingham’s latest official list of prizes, so they may no longer be awarded.
