About this scholarship
What you get
The Rector’s Scholarship amounts to EUR 277 per month (1,200 PLN) for up to 9 months (October to June) in a given academic year. It is awarded by the University of Warsaw to the highest-achieving students in each year group of every degree programme. The payment is tax-free and will continue even if you take part in an Erasmus+ exchange during the funding period.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled at the University of Warsaw.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Field of study: All participants are eligible to take part.
- Degree stage: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme. You do not yet hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification, and you are not undertaking a second Bachelor’s degree programme following the completion of a Bachelor’s degree at another higher education institution.
- Time limits: You have completed no more than 12 semesters in total (9 in your Bachelor’s degree, 7 in your Master’s degree).
- First-year students (bachelor's year 1 or first year of a long-cycle master's): You sat your A-levels in the same year that you enrolled, and you are either a winner or a finalist in a national or international academic Olympiad, or a national champion in your sport.
- Students in year 2 and above: You have achieved outstanding academic results during the past academic year or can demonstrate academic, sporting or artistic achievements from the previous academic cycle. You have not repeated any academic year, did not take a leave of absence last year and are not currently within an extension period for your final thesis.
- One programme at a time: The scholarship may only be used for one degree programme at a time.
How to apply
Please apply online via USOSweb, the University of Warsaw’s student portal, by 15 October. The deadline is strict. Please upload all documents supporting your academic achievements within this period; documents submitted after this date will not be considered.
How realistic are your chances?
The awards are limited to the best 6% students in each year group of each degree programme (for 2025/2026), ensuring genuine competition and making grades the decisive factor. As you are only competing within your own year group and degree programme, the pool of entrants is significantly smaller than the entire university. A good grade point average, combined with evidence of additional achievements, gives you a realistic chance of success. Due to the fixed percentage threshold, even a small difference in your mark can be decisive; therefore, submitting a complete set of documents by the deadline is just as important as your academic results.
