De Meurs-François Fund prize

You will receive a one-off grant of up to 30,000 EUR to help you complete your doctoral thesis at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Brussels. It will cover your final year of the writing phase. The funds come from a donation made by the late Yvonne de Meurs. They are used to support PhD students in their final year of study at the ULB who are experiencing financial difficulties, so that they can complete and defend their thesis.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a PhD student at the ULB and are in the final year of working on your thesis.
• Timing: You expect to defend your thesis during the academic year right after the prize is awarded.
• Field of study: Any field. Life sciences, exact and applied sciences, and human and social sciences all qualify.
• Financial need: You are in a difficult social or financial situation.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the ULB’s internal research portal. The deadline for applications for the current round is 15 May 2026.
