Paavo Koistinen Foundation research grant

You will receive a one-off research grant of 10,000 EUR or 5,000 EUR for cancer research. For the 2026 round, the Paavo Koistinen Foundation (Paavo Koistisen säätiö), a Finnish charitable organisation based in the North Savo region, is awarding a total of 80,000 EUR: six grants of 10,000 EUR and four of 5,000 EUR. The funds are intended to support scientific research into the causes and diagnosis of cancer, as well as the treatment and care of cancer patients.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a PhD student, which means you are working on your PhD.
• Field: Your research focuses on cancer: its causes, diagnosis, treatment and care.
• Where you live and work: You live and work in the North Savo (Pohjois-Savo) region of Finland.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Groups: Not only individuals, but also research teams can apply jointly.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted exclusively via the Foundation’s online funding system. Applications sent by post or email will not be accepted. The 2026 round begins on 1 October 2026 and ends on 31 October 2026 at 16:00. The Foundation’s Board will make its decision in December and notify all applicants via the online system.
