About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant for your doctoral thesis on ear, nose and throat disorders at the University of Oulu in Finland. The funding comes from the Antti Palva and Martti Sorri Fund, one of the 25 named funds administered by the Oulun yliopiston tukisäätiö (University of Oulu Scholarship Foundation). It will be paid as a one-off lump sum, not as a monthly stipend. Travel expenses alone will not be covered.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are a PhD student and are working on your thesis.
  • Subject: Your research focuses on disorders of the ear, nose and throat (ENT).
  • Where you study: You are enrolled at the University of Oulu’s Doctoral School and are conducting research there.
  • Research plan: The University’s Doctoral School has approved your PhD plan.
  • Timing: Your research is already well under way. The first grant is usually awarded around a year after you start your PhD.
  • Limit per person: In total, you may receive a maximum of two grants from the foundation.
  • No double funding: You cannot receive a scholarship from the Tauno-Tönning Foundation in the same year.

How to apply

Applications are accepted once a year via the Foundation’s online funding system. The deadline for applications is approximately 6 April. Late applications will not be considered. A panel reviews the applications and decides who will receive funding.
