Conference travel grant from the University of Tampere Foundation

You get 700 EUR per academic year towards travelling to one international conference abroad, where you give a talk, present a poster or take part in a panel. The conference must be peer-reviewed, meaning experts reviewed your submitted contribution and could accept or reject it. The grant comes from the University of Tampere Foundation sr (Tampereen Yliopiston Tukisäätiö sr), set up in 1973 to support research and teaching at Tampere University.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a doctoral student, or a postdoctoral researcher within two years of finishing your doctorate.
• University: You do your research at Tampere University.
• Field of study: Open to social sciences (such as health sciences, history, literary studies, logopedics, philosophy, psychology, social research, public health and epidemiology), computer science, information studies, languages, media studies, communications and performing arts, education studies, medicine and life sciences, administrative and business studies, and political science. Engineering and architecture are not funded.
• The trip: You attend a peer-reviewed international conference abroad and present there yourself, with a talk, a poster or a panel contribution.

How to apply

You apply any time through the foundation's online grant portal. Apply as soon as you get your acceptance notice. The foundation recommends at least two months before the trip during term, and three months during the summer break. The board decides every 5 to 6 weeks during term. You cannot apply after the trip has taken place.
