About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive a grant to fund a specific project in the fields of design, art, art education, communication or architecture. The amount of the grant varies: you specify the amount required on the application form, and the Foundation Board decides whether to award it. The grant may cover your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis, another study-related project, a doctoral thesis or other research work, the publication of research findings, or a product and business development project based on this research. The funding comes from the Support Foundation of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Aalto University, which channels donations from companies and private individuals to students and researchers at the faculty.
Eligibility
- University: You are studying or conducting research at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland.
- Level: You are a bachelor's, master's or doctoral student, or a postgraduate researcher.
- Field of study: Your project focuses on design, art, art education, communication or architecture.
- Project: You have a specific project, such as a final-year dissertation, a PhD thesis, a research paper or a publication, with a clear plan and a set budget.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Backing: A professor endorses your application and provides a reference.
- Active donation: A donor must currently be providing financial support for your specific field of expertise. All funding is contingent upon a corresponding donation; therefore, you may only apply for a field of expertise for which a donor has already allocated funds.
How to apply
Please submit your application by email using the Foundation’s form. Please attach your certificate, a study or project plan, a financial plan and your CV. There is no fixed application deadline: you can apply as soon as funding for your field is advertised. The Foundation Board decides on each grant application.
If you are pursuing further design, art or architecture projects beyond this grant, our guide Scholarships in Finland covers additional funding available across Finland.
