Björkqvist Fund - Scholarship

Björkqvist Fund grants and scholarships (City of Kangasala)

You will receive financial support for academic research, artistic work or a university degree. A work grant amounts to 2,000 EUR per month for up to 4 months and covers your living costs whilst you are conducting research or pursuing artistic work. A project grant covers the costs of a specific project, such as organising an event, paying artists or renting a studio. The amount depends on your budget. A higher education grant provides up to 2,000 EUR to cover specific additional needs relating to your studies. The funds come from the City of Kangasala’s Björkqvist Fund. A committee allocates the grants once a year.

Who can apply

• Link to Kangasala: You finished comprehensive school (peruskoulu, Finnish basic education up to age 16) or upper secondary school in Kangasala. If you did not, you can still apply for a science or art grant when your work promotes Kangasala's culture.
• For the study scholarship: You hold a Kangasala school-leaving certificate and are enrolled on a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at a Finnish or foreign higher education institution.
• Clear purpose: You can set out a specific need for the funds. Study grants are intended solely to meet a specific need and are not intended to cover general study costs or work placements.
• Field of study: Open to all fields of science and the arts.
• Grades: For study grants, good academic performance is the most important selection criterion.
• Who may apply: Funding for science and the arts is available to individuals, working groups and associations, but not to companies. Study grants are intended exclusively for individuals.

You can apply for the next round from 1 October until 30 October 2026; the application deadline is at 15:00. The committee will make its decision based on your application documents. There will be no interviews, and late applications will not be considered.
