Saastamoinen Foundation - Travel Grants

Saastamoinen Foundation Travel Grants at the University of Eastern Finland

You will receive a one-off grant of roughly 5,000 to 15,000 EUR for a research stay abroad. The funding comes from the Saastamoinen Foundation, which provides the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) with 100,000 euros annually, to be distributed amongst doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. The grant covers an actual research stay at a host institution abroad. It does not cover short trips to conferences or seminars, which are funded separately by the faculties of the University of Eastern Finland (UEF).

Who can apply

• Your status: You are a PhD student or postdoctoral researcher at the UEF.
• Where you study: You will be based at the UEF, either at the Kuopio campus or the Joensuu campus.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects and all UEF faculties.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Purpose: Your trip is a research visit abroad, not attendance at a conference or seminar.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the UEF, not directly to the Saastamoinen Foundation. The Foundation does not accept individual applications for this scholarship. The application period runs in late winter or spring and is announced via the UEF’s internal channels. The application deadline is in early March. Full details and the application form can be found on the UEF intranet, for which registration is required.
