About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive 1,000 EUR per month for up to 6 months to spend a semester in Finland. You can use the money for one of two purposes: either to complete the final stage of your Master’s degree at a Finnish university, or to gather material in Finland for a Master’s thesis that you will write at your own university. The scholarship is provided by EDUFI, Finland’s national education agency, which runs the programme to connect international students studying Finnish with higher education institutions in the country.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are currently in the Master’s stage of your degree.
  • Subject: You are studying the Finnish language and Finnish culture.
  • Where you study now: You are enrolled at a university outside Finland.
  • Nationality: You are not a Finnish national. Applicants of all other nationalities are welcome to apply; however, EDUFI does not collaborate with higher education institutions in Russia or Belarus.
  • Where you go: You are using the scholarship to undertake a period of study or research in Finland.

How to apply

There is currently no open call for applications. EDUFI has temporarily suspended the application process for this grant. The authority has announced that it will decide by the end of 2026 whether to continue supporting the Finnish language and culture, and will publish the outcome on its website. Until then, there is no deadline to meet.
