About this scholarship

Aleksander and Lucie Lampén Fund scholarship

At the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at Aalto University, you will receive a one-off study grant, which is paid in a single instalment. The amount and number of scholarships are determined each year as part of the call for applications and are subject to change. In 2019, there were up to 28 scholarships, each worth 2,000 EUR, and in 2025, the Faculty awarded 34 scholarships. The funds come from the estate of the chemical engineer Aleksander Lampén and his wife Lucie. The Faculty of Chemical Engineering awards the scholarships every year.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (CHEM) at Aalto University.
  • Programme: You are enrolled on one of the university’s degree programmes in the fields of chemical engineering, bioproducts, biotechnology, materials science or energy engineering, or a related subject area. This ranges from the Bachelor’s degree programme in Chemical Engineering to the Master’s degree programmes listed.
  • Language: Finnish is your mother tongue.
  • Financial need: Your financial situation counts in the selection.
  • Once only: You can only receive this grant once. You may also apply for it whilst working on your final dissertation, but only if your dissertation is unpaid and you are not receiving any other funding for it.

These points improve your chances but are not strict requirements: being in your 2nd to 4th year of study, good grades (around a 3.0 average with roughly 55 ECTS credits completed per year), and a study-related period abroad such as an exchange, whether already done or planned.

How to apply
