About this scholarship

Pirkanmaa Regional Fund grant (Finnish Cultural Foundation)

You will receive a grant to fund research, artistic work or a cultural project in the Pirkanmaa region of Finland. In recent years, individual grants have ranged from around 2,000 EUR to 130,000 EUR, depending on the scope of your project. In 2025, the fund distributed 1,440,000 EUR across 80 grants. The money can be used as a working grant to cover living costs whilst working, or as a grant to cover expenses such as research costs, project implementation, tools or materials. The funding comes from the Pirkanmaa Regional Fund, the regional branch of the Finnish Cultural Foundation (Suomen Kulttuurirahasto, SKR), an independent foundation with no ties to any political party.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You can apply as an individual, a working group or a registered organisation.
  • Field: All fields are welcome. The general fund covers scientific research and postgraduate study in any subject, as well as artistic work. Some donor funds are tied to specific areas set by the donor.
  • Nationality and residence: You are a Finnish citizen or live or work in Finland. You may also apply if your project has a clear and strong connection to Finland or Finnish culture.
  • Link to the region: Your work takes place in the Pirkanmaa region or benefits this region (which includes Tampere, Nokia, Kangasala, Valkeakoski, Sastamala and the surrounding municipalities). Priority will be given to works that are set in or deal with this region, as well as to applicants who live there or were born there.
  • One fund only: Whether you are an individual or a working group, you may only apply to one of the regional SKR funds.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the SKR Funding Service. The main application period runs from 15 to 30 October. You will be notified of the decision by email in the second week of February.
