About this scholarship
Transatlantic Studies Scholarship
You receive up to 2,000 USD (about 1,850 EUR) to fund the research behind your thesis. The money is strictly for research costs: materials, software licences, fees to attend academic seminars or conferences, and research-related travel. It does not cover living costs. The award comes from the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Finland, which gives it out once a year to a student writing a thesis connected to the United States.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled at a Finnish university or a Finnish university of applied sciences.
- Study phase: You are working on your bachelor's or master's thesis.
- Topic: Your thesis has a clear link to the United States.
- Field of study: Any subject can apply.
- Nationality or residence: You are a Finnish citizen or a lawful permanent resident of Finland.
How to apply
Fill in the application form (PDF) and send it with the required documents to the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Finland. The deadline falls in spring, and the winner is announced in April. Selection is based on your documents, with no interview.
