About this award / prize
What you get
You will receive a one-off prize of 1,500 EUR for the best scientific article you have written during your specialist training in dermatology. Each year, two prizes of 1,500 EUR are awarded, one for each of the two best articles. La Roche-Posay will also cover your travel expenses and the cost of one night’s hotel accommodation so that you can attend the ‘Journées Dermatologiques de Paris’ (JDP), France’s leading dermatology congress, where the prize will be presented. The prize is organised by the Collège des Enseignants en Dermatologie de France (CEDEF) and has been supported by La Roche-Posay since 2011.
Who can apply
- Who you are: You are a junior doctor (internal medicine) specialising in dermatology and are currently undertaking your specialist training (DES in Dermatology) in France; you are also a member of the CEDEF.
- Your work: You have authored a scientific article in the field of clinical or biological dermatology which has been accepted or published.
- Timing: The article was accepted less than a year before you submitted your application.
- No double award: The article has not yet won any other awards.
- Nationality: Candidates of any nationality may apply, provided they are undertaking their specialist training in dermatology in France.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted by email to the CEDEF office by 30 June each year. Please submit the full article, stating the name of the journal, a CV listing your published works and oral presentations, and a letter from a senior academic in your department confirming that the article was accepted less than a year ago.
How realistic are your chances?
This prize is very narrowly defined: only junior dermatology doctors in France who have published an article on clinical or biological dermatology are eligible to enter, so the pool of applicants is small. If you can provide a recently accepted or published article, as well as a letter of recommendation from your department, you have a genuine chance of winning one of the two prizes. The key factor is a well-founded piece of research suitable for publication.
