SOFCOT Grant to Attend the EFORT Congress

You will receive up to 1,000 EUR to cover the costs of attending the annual EFORT Congress, the annual meeting of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. This amount will be used to reimburse your registration fee, travel and accommodation costs upon presentation of receipts. You must submit your receipts and will be reimbursed up to 1,000 EUR. The grant is awarded by SOFCOT, the French Society for Orthopaedic Surgery, which awards a maximum of 3 such grants each year.

Who can apply

• Membership: You are a junior member of SOFCOT.
• Job: You are a young orthopaedic surgeon from France.
• Age: You are under 40 at the time of the congress.
• Accepted talk: Your paper has been accepted for a presentation at the EFORT Congress.
• One per career: You may only receive a SOFCOT grant once in your lifetime, and it cannot be combined with other SOFCOT grants. First-time applicants will be given priority.

How to apply

Please send SOFCOT a brief CV, your registration confirmation for the EFORT Congress and a copy of the email confirming that your paper has been accepted. These documents must be received no later than 4 months before the Congress. The funding committee meets in January and June. The next deadline is 15 December; the next meeting will take place on 15 January.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut narrowly. You must be a French junior SOFCOT member, under 40, with an oral presentation already accepted at the EFORT congress. That accepted talk is the real filter, so the eligible group is small and few people compete. If you meet these conditions and apply on time, especially as a first-time applicant, your prospects are good.
