About this scholarship

Scholarships of the Portuguese Embassy in Paris

You will receive a one-off payment of 1,600 EUR for one academic year. The Portuguese Embassy in Paris awards the scholarship, which is funded by private sponsors. These include the banks Caixa Geral de Depósitos, Banco BCP and Banco BPI, as well as the insurance companies Fidelidade and Novadelta. It is aimed at Portuguese students and the children of Portuguese nationals who are studying in France.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You are a Portuguese national or your parents are Portuguese nationals (a ‘Lusodescendant’, i.e. a person of Portuguese descent).
  • Where you live: You live in France.
  • Where you study: You are enrolled at a university or other higher education institution in France.
  • Field of study: Any topic is fine.
  • One catch: You are not eligible to apply if one of your parents is employed by the Portuguese government or by one of the sponsoring banks or insurance companies.

How to apply

Please send your application by post to the embassy. Please enclose the form and all the necessary documents. The embassy will reject incomplete applications; therefore, please check that all documents are complete before the deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

Only a small group of people are eligible: you must be Portuguese or of Portuguese descent, live in France and be studying at a French university. If you clearly meet these criteria and submit your complete application documents by the deadline, your chances are good. Please note: The last confirmed call for applications was for 2016/2017, and no new call has been published since then.
