About this scholarship

What the Convention Diversité scholarship gives you

You will receive financial support to cover your accommodation and living costs during your 5-year engineering degree at INSA Lyon, a state-funded engineering university in Villeurbanne, near Lyon. The amount of support depends on your financial circumstances and is not publicly disclosed. You will also receive non-monetary support: a summer school before your first year of study, tutoring, mentoring (individual support from practising engineers), workshops on learning methods, and psychological support. The programme is run by the Institut Gaston Berger at INSA Lyon in collaboration with partner secondary schools near Lyon and the education authorities of the French overseas departments.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You have been admitted to the first year of the engineering degree programme at INSA Lyon.
  • Your school: You come from one of INSA Lyon's partner high schools in the Lyon education region, or from any high school in the overseas departments Martinique, Guyane, Guadeloupe, La Réunion or Mayotte.
  • Financial need: You need help with funding your accommodation and living costs.

How to apply

Applications for a place at INSA Lyon are made via Parcoursup, the national platform for university applications in France. The Institut Gaston Berger manages the partnership under the ‘Convention Diversité’ and the associated scholarship. It contacts the partner schools during the academic year.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is aimed at a small group of students. They must be enrolled at INSA Lyon, come from a specific partner institution or one of the five overseas departments listed, and demonstrate financial need. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants is small compared to scholarships that are open to the general public. If you meet these criteria and can demonstrate financial need, your chances are good.
