What BAGAGES gives you

You do a paid work placement of 3 or 6 months at a company abroad. On top of Erasmus+ co-funding you get a regional allowance of 100 EUR per month. In practice this means about 900 EUR for a 3-month placement or 1,900 EUR for a 6-month placement towards your daily costs. You also get personal support in France and abroad, help finding a host company and a place to live, your round-trip travel (plane or train) paid up to 450 EUR, and your accommodation covered in a shared double room. If you have a disability, the extra costs of travel and stay are covered too. The programme is run by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region with France Travail.

Who can apply

• Age: You are between 18 and 30 years old.
• Where you live: Your home address is in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France.
• Your status: You are registered as a jobseeker with France Travail or a Mission Locale (a local youth support office).
• Your plan: A France Travail or Mission Locale advisor has approved your career plan.
• Where you go: Your placement is at a company abroad in an Erasmus+ country (the European Economic Area). You cannot do it from France by remote work, and not in a French overseas territory.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply. If you are a foreign national, you cannot do the placement in your country of origin.
• Study level: Open to all levels. Priority goes to applicants at or below the Baccalauréat (French school-leaving qualification).

How to apply

Start by contacting your France Travail or Mission Locale advisor to get your career plan approved and a referral. You then join an online information meeting and attend a personal selection interview before you file your application online. Apply before your placement starts. Anything filed after the start date is refused automatically.

How realistic are your chances?

This scheme is aimed at a narrow group: you must live in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, be a registered jobseeker aged 18 to 30, and have an advisor-approved plan. That keeps the applicant pool small. If you meet those conditions and your advisor backs your project, especially with a Baccalauréat-level or lower background, your prospects are good. Getting your career plan approved early and preparing for the interview matter most.
