What you get

You receive a grant for a study period abroad of at least 8 weeks. The amount is a total pot you can draw on for all your trips across your whole post-bac studies, up to Master 2 level: up to 3,600 EUR if you do not hold a French social-criteria scholarship, and up to 4,500 EUR if you do. It is paid per week and capped at 26 weeks per academic year. You get 80 EUR per week without a French scholarship (100 EUR with the inclusion bonus) and 100 EUR per week with one (110 EUR with the bonus). The inclusion bonus is a higher rate for students on low household income. If you have a disability, extra costs can be reimbursed against receipts, up to 1,000 EUR per trip. The grant comes from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in France. It does not cover all your costs, so you need extra money of your own.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at a school or training body in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, on a state-recognised course leading to a diploma listed in the French RNCP register.
• Level: Any post-bac course, up to Master 2 level. Students, apprentices and vocational trainees can all apply.
• Where you go: Your study period is abroad, outside France (French overseas territories do not count), at a single foreign institution, and must count towards your diploma. Online stays from France and gap-year stays with no ECTS credits do not qualify.
• Age: You are under 31 when your trip starts.
• Income: Your reference tax income (your parents', unless you are financially independent) is 50,000 EUR or less. The inclusion bonus applies at 30,000 EUR or less.
• No double funding: You do not receive another Nouvelle-Aquitaine grant, a ministry mobility aid (AMI) or an Erasmus+ grant for the same trip.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply. Foreign students cannot use the grant to go to their own home country, unless they show a rental contract abroad.

How to apply

You create and submit your file on the regional online platform "Mes démarches en Nouvelle-Aquitaine" before your study period starts. Any request sent after the start date is refused automatically. Your school co-reviews the file on the same platform.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is aimed narrowly at students enrolled in Nouvelle-Aquitaine who go abroad for at least 8 weeks and stay under the income ceiling. The eligible group is limited, and this is not a nationwide competition. It works as an entitlement rather than a contest. If you meet the criteria, apply before you leave and keep clear of Erasmus+ or other regional aid for the same trip, your prospects are good.
