Institut français de Prague - Résidence de recherche et création à Prague (Praha/Štrasburk — Villa Bohêma)

What you get

You receive a monthly grant of 1,035 EUR for a 3-month artist residency in Prague. This splits into a 700 EUR fee and 335 EUR towards living costs. You also get a studio and shared accommodation at MeetFactory, a return economy flight paid by the CEAAC, and a 200 EUR production budget for the annual Open Studios (a public showing of the residents' work). On top of that you get individual mentoring (regular one-to-one guidance from an experienced artist or curator), technical support and local contacts in the Prague art scene. The 2026 residency runs from 8 February to 8 May 2026. It is run jointly by the CEAAC (Strasbourg), MeetFactory (Prague) and the Institut français de Prague. You do not have to produce a finished work.

Who can apply

• What you do: You are a visual artist working in any medium, for example installation, sculpture, photography or digital art. Interdisciplinary projects are welcome.
• Career stage: You are in the early or middle of your career.
• Link to the region: You can show a real connection to the Grand Est region of France, for example you were born, studied or work there.
• Social status: You belong to the French artist-author social security scheme (régime des artistes-auteurs).
• Age and nationality: No age limit and any nationality can apply, as long as you meet the other conditions.
• Recent residencies: You have not held a CEAAC residency in the past two years.
• Duos: You can apply as a pair. The fee is not doubled, but both of you can use the travel, studio and accommodation.

How to apply

You apply through an online form. Applications open on 19 September 2025 and close on 2 November 2025. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed by video in English, by a jury from the three partner institutions, from 17 November 2025. Results are announced at the end of November 2025.

How realistic are your chances?

This residency is cut very narrowly. Only one artist (or duo) goes to Prague each year, and you must have a clear link to the Grand Est region and belong to the French artist-author scheme. That keeps the applicant pool small, but a single place makes it competitive. If you fit the profile and bring a strong, feasible project that genuinely needs to happen in Prague, your prospects are realistic.
