About this grant / loan

What you get

You can borrow money to fund your studies at the Institut d’Optique Graduate School (IOGS) in Palaiseau, near Paris. This is the state-guaranteed student loan (‘prêt étudiant garanti par l’État’), which the IOGS lists as one option for funding your studies. It is a loan, not a grant. You take it out with a partner bank (such as BNP Paribas, Société Générale, Crédit Agricole or CIC) and repay it later. The state guarantees 70% of the amount, so the bank can grant you the loan even without a parent acting as a guarantor. The loan term is a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 10 years, and you can defer repayment until you have completed your studies.

Eligibility

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at the IOGS or another recognised French higher education institution.
  • Age: You are of legal age and younger than 28.
  • Nationality: You are a national of France or another EU/EEA country.
  • Income: Applications are open to all, regardless of income level, and no parental guarantee is required.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.

How to apply

You arrange the loan directly with one of the partner banks, not with IOGS. There is no fixed deadline: you can apply whenever you need the money.
