About this scholarship
ESME Alumni Foundation scholarship
You will receive a one-year scholarship worth a quarter to half of your ESME tuition fees. Depending on the academic year, the amount is approximately 2,560 EUR to 6,145 EUR. Tuition fees amount to 10,240 EUR per year for the first two years and 12,290 EUR per year thereafter. The scholarship is intended to contribute towards your tuition fees and does not fully cover the costs that your family would normally have to bear. It is provided by the ESME Alumni Foundation, which was established in 2011 to enable talented students from low-income families to study engineering at ESME. In the year 2025, 15 students received a scholarship.
Who can apply
- School: You are studying or planning to study at ESME, a French engineering school with campuses in Paris/Ivry, Bordeaux, Lille and Lyon. You can apply even before you enrol.
- Study year: You are in your 1, 2, 3 or 4 year of your engineering degree.
- Financial need: On the basis of your most recent tax assessment notices, it has been established that you and your family are on a low income. This is the first selection criterion.
- Grades: You have achieved very good school grades over the last three years.
- Field of study: Engineering, as ESME is a university of engineering.
- Nationality, age, gender: Open to everyone, with no restrictions of any kind.
How to apply
Please complete the application form (available on the school’s intranet or as a PDF) and post the full set of documents to the ESME Alumni Foundation by 5 October. The school initially ranks applicants according to their income and then according to their academic potential; in the event of a tie, your personal statement will be the deciding factor. The committee may invite you to a short interview, during which you can explain your application documents.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is restricted to ESME students with genuine financial need; it is therefore aimed at a small group rather than being a nationwide competition. If you clearly meet the income criteria and have good grades, your chances are good, as around 15 students are selected each year. A compelling personal statement can make all the difference when decisions are close – so make sure it is well-written and submit your complete application by the deadline.
