About this scholarship
What you get
You will receive 20,000 EUR for one year to fund your Master’s studies 2 ‘Recherche’, the research-oriented final year of a French Master’s programme. You choose your own research topic, but it must be related to cardiology – that is, to the heart and blood vessels. The funding comes from the Fédération Française de Cardiologie (FFC), the largest private funder of heart research in France outside the pharmaceutical industry. The FFC awards between approximately 10 and 20 of these scholarships each year.
Who can apply
- Where you work: You work in a French department specialising in cardiovascular medicine, vascular medicine or cardiovascular surgery.
- Your training: You are a doctor undergoing specialist training (internal medicine) and are enrolled on a DES course, the French specialist qualification. The programme must be completed in the fields of cardiovascular medicine, vascular medicine, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, vascular surgery or paediatrics, with an additional specialisation in paediatric and congenital cardiology.
- Or your role: You are currently working as a Chef de Clinique Assistant (CCA) or as an assistant, or you left this post less than 2 years ago.
- Research field: You choose your own project, but it must relate to cardiology.
- Repeat rule: Your team must not have received funding in the same category in the previous year.
How to apply
You must create an account on the Synto platform and submit your complete application there. Applications sent by email or post will not be accepted. The application period runs from 16 December 2025 to 16 March 2026 (before midnight). The FFC’s Scientific Committee will review the projects. You will be notified of the decision by email in the second half of April 2026.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding scheme is very narrowly defined. You must already hold a specific post in the field of cardiology or vascular medicine in France and propose a research project relating to the heart. This keeps the pool of applicants small and specialised. With between 10 and 20 grants awarded each year, a suitable candidate with a compelling, feasible project and strong supervision has a genuine chance of success, particularly if the topic can hold its own in international competition.
