About this scholarship

FFC grant for a research stay abroad

You will receive 40,000 EUR for one year to fund a research placement in a laboratory or clinical department outside France. Should your stay extend into a second year, you may receive an additional grant of 20,000 EUR for this extra year, once you have submitted your final report and it has been approved. The funding comes from the French Federation of Cardiology (FFC), the largest private funder of cardiovascular research in France outside the pharmaceutical industry. The grant supports both new and established research teams and helps them to develop new areas of research.

Who can apply

  • Your job: You work in a French department specialising in cardiovascular medicine, vascular medicine or cardiovascular surgery.
  • Qualification: You have completed a Master’s degree in 2 Research, a one-year French research-based Master’s programme.
  • Career stage: You are a doctor undergoing specialist training (a junior doctor participating in the relevant DES programme), a hospital-based junior doctor, a former hospital-based junior doctor, a senior hospital doctor or a university professor in these specialist fields.
  • Where you go: Your research placement will take place abroad, in a laboratory or specialist department that is recognised within its field.
  • Field: You work in cardiovascular medicine, vascular medicine or cardiovascular surgery.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the Synto online platform. The application period runs from 16 December 2025 to midnight on 16 March 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The FFC’s scientific committee will review the projects and announce its decisions at the end of April 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is very specific: you must already be working in a French cardiovascular department and hold a Master’s degree in research, meaning that only a few people are eligible. The committee assesses the quality and feasibility of your research project, your role within it, and the host team abroad. A well-planned project backed by a strong host team is crucial. If you clearly meet the criteria and submit a well-founded application by the deadline, your chances are good.
